The Norwegian Hydrological Council announces the "Hydrology in the Arctic Climate" Conference, to be held 16-18 June 2008, at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway. The hydrological system of the Arctic is highly vulnerable to climate change. Permafrost conditions, precipitation changes and enhanced snow and ice melt will have an impact on both biotic and abiotic systems. During the International Polar Year (IPY) several projects are studying these impacts. This conference will focus on different parameters of the hydrological system, observed changes, and future research needs.
The conference organizers invite contributions to both poster presentations and an open oral session. Poster presentations are open; participants are encouraged to bring posters with them to the conference. Participants wishing to give an oral presentation should send an abstract, no longer than 250 words, by Monday, 7 April 2008, to: nhr@nve.no
