CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier is a Home Trade 1 class vessel, Arctic Class II based out of the Coast Guard Base in Victoria, B.C. and is an all weather patrol, major navaids tender/ice strengthened ship capable of operating on all B.C. coastal waters. The CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier provides offshore weather endurance, large cargo and buoy handling capacity and can facilitate helicopter operations from the ship. Duties include resupply, aids to navigation, search and rescue and fisheries enforcement, icebreaking, science and other duties related to Fisheries and Oceans, Canadian Coast Guard and other government departments programs.
