Sermilik Station is situated in southern East Greenland, about 20 km north of the town of Tasiilaq (Ammassalik). The station was built in 1970, and is owned by the University of Copenhagen. The station can be used all year round, but is opened only when needed. There is no permanent staff. The station consists of a residential building and a depot building. A kitchen, living-room and three bed- and-work rooms with six beds in all are found in the residential section. The station is used as a base for studies of the Mittvakkat-glacier and its surroundings and as a training facility for students working with arctic issues in physical geography.
