The meeting will take place in the ARCUS Arctic Community Meeting Room at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, Pacific Room J, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Anyone interested is encouraged and welcome to attend. Light refreshments (pizza and a cash bar) will be available. This open community meeting will provide an opportunity for the science community to discuss what we learned from the 2009 Outlook, provide input into planning and improvements for the 2010 Sea Ice Outlook, and participate in the effort as a whole. We also wish to entrain new participants in ongoing and new Outlook activities, including expansion of the regional/Pacific Arctic outlook. The SEARCH Sea Ice Outlook is an international effort to provide a community-wide summary of the expected September arctic sea ice minimum at both pan-arctic and regional scales. The Outlook produces monthly reports during the arctic sea ice season, based on an open and inclusive process that synthesizes input from a broad range of scientific perspectives and methods. Sea Ice Outlook activities are supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and volunteer efforts.
